Getting to Know Rich

What did you do before you became a pastor?

I served three years in the Army and eight years in the National Guard. I worked for Southern Bell for thirteen years, first as an installer, then as a manager and finally as a facilities engineer.

What is your favorite pastime?

We love to travel. We enjoy day trips to see friends, longer trips to see the kids and grandkids, and vacationing at historical sites or places we have never seen before. Lynndale and I began our marriage by living in Germany for a couple of years and we still enjoy travelling whenever we can.

How do you spend your spare time?

I enjoy reading history and fiction (I’m a big fan of Clancy and Vince Flynn). I also enjoy SEC football.

What is your favorite family activity?

We like to get together for a meal and to play games. One of our favorite games is Bananagrams. (Since Lynndale is a language teacher, she usually wins.)

Todd Wilson, Youth Pastor

My name is Todd Wilson. I have lived in and around the Shoals for a majority of my life. I have a wonderful wife of 11 years, Amelia, and a very intelligent and energetic son, Jay David.
After graduating Lexington High School, I attended the University of North Alabama, where I played football under Coach Bill Hyde. After graduating in 2003, I starting working in home finance. Since that time, I worked for Wells Fargo Financial, then later came to Regions Bank in 2006, where I currently work. God has blessed me with a great team to work with and I love getting to see how the things we do make a difference in people’s lives every day.
I have felt that since early in my life God had a plan for me to serve Him. While I had no clue at the time what that would look like, I did my best to focus on Him and continue to grow in His love and grace. God has really taken me through some big spiritual changes over the last few years. He is continuing to deepen my spiritual understanding and helping me to walk the thin path of Christianity.
Our world continues to fall away from God. Teenagers today are tested in ways that many of us did not experience until we were in college or even later in life. With the trails and temptations that they can and will face, my goal with our youth group is to help them develop a firm foundation of faith, so that when tested, they can stand firm. We have a great youth group that desires to grow closer to God, as well as spreading His love to other people.
I am excited to join this church as Youth Pastor, as I get to experience the love and joy of this church every day, as well as minister to a group of engaged teenagers who love God and want to serve Him.
I invite you to come and see what God is doing here.
