Title: God Is Great

“Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is
unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of Your
majesty And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. 6 Men shall
speak of the power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your
greatness. 7 They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant
goodness And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
8 The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in
lovingkindness. 9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all
His works.” Psalm 145:3-9 (NASB)

I. God is greater than the world.

“I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face
of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I
will give it to the one who is pleasing in My sight.”
Jeremiah 27:5 (NASB)

“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will
know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory
of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness
of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the
working of the strength of His might 20 Which He brought about in
Christ, when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right
hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and
power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this
age but also in the one to come.” Ephesians 1:18-21 (NASB)

II. God’s mercy is greater than our sin.

“The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in
lovingkindness. 9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all
His works.” Psalm 145:8-9 (NASB)

“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the
ungodly. 7For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps
for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8But
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5: 6-8 (NASB)

III. God is greater than our fears.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give
you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle
and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For My
yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NASB)
“We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for
us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and
God abides in him. 17By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may
have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are
we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out
fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is
not perfected in love. 19 We love, because He first loved us.”
1 John 4:16-19 (NASB)
